The Florida Orchestra Association Rising Star Award was established to recognize outstanding FOA member leadership and achievements within the music education profession. 

The criteria for the Rising Star Award are as follows:

• FOA member and current Orchestra Director in the State of Florida
• The Nominee is teaching at the same school the year they were nominated
• Regularly participates in District/State meetings and events
• Demonstrates maintenance, significant growth or establishment of their program and community, etc.
